A New Era of Leadership at GLG
Emily Scheese’s arrival marks a pivotal moment in our journey. In her role as General Manager, she will provide strategic direction, mentorship, and comprehensive training to our staff, coaches, and players. Her mission is clear: equip our team with the skills and knowledge needed to excel on and off the field, ensuring that every young athlete has the opportunity to thrive.

Meet Emily Scheese: A Proven Soccer Leader
Emily brings a wealth of experience to GLG. Holding her US Soccer Coaching C License, she has led teams as the head coach at Cal State Maritime Academy and previously at top girls’ programs like Almaden FC. Her roles have spanned from technical trainer for the Aptos Tide Soccer Club to Camp Director for Nike US Soccer Camps—each position showcasing her ability to nurture talent and drive success. This impressive track record makes her the ideal leader to guide our club’s growth.
From Player to Coach: A Journey of Inspiration
Emily’s soccer journey began early on. Starting her youth sports career as a competitive gymnast, she discovered her passion for soccer in middle school while playing for a local AYSO team in Torrance, CA. Her club career blossomed with Ajax in the South Bay LA area, and she quickly made her mark in high school, leading Bishop Montgomery High School to a CIF championship and earning top defensive honors.

Her collegiate career at UC San Diego was equally stellar. As a walk-on for a powerhouse NCAA Division III team, Emily contributed to three national championships and maintained an outstanding academic record. Later, while pursuing graduate studies at UC Santa Cruz, she not only earned a Ph.D. in literature with an emphasis on feminist studies but also embraced coaching—first as an assistant and then as head coach—where her teams garnered conference titles and national accolades for both athletic and academic excellence.

Championing Youth Soccer and Empowering Girls
At GLG, we understand that parents are looking for more than just athletic training for their daughters—they want an environment that builds confidence, discipline, and life-long skills. Emily’s extensive coaching background and commitment to holistic development align perfectly with our mission. Her experience in cultivating both athletic prowess and academic success makes her a role model for young players and a trusted mentor for parents seeking a supportive, enriching soccer experience for their children.

Adding top-tier talent like Emily to our leadership bench is fundamental to our long-term vision. Under her guidance, GLG is poised to create a nurturing environment where young girls can develop their soccer skills, gain valuable life experiences, and grow into confident leaders.
