Meet the Mentors.
Every practice, every season, led by professional, licensed, all-female coaches. Coaching is their craft — not their weekend favor.
Parent volunteers are the heart of youth sports — but a volunteer shouldn't have to be your daughter's only option. SF SOL has been coaching San Francisco's girls for 12+ years, and every coach on this page is part of why families keep choosing us, season after season. Nearly every coach on staff has a full profile below — the last few are being finalized, or ask us directly at tryouts or through Contact.
Leadership

Jess Veiga
General Manager, Owner
A Bay Area native and mother of two daughters, Jess brings over a decade of merchandising and planning experience from Gap Inc. to her role at SF SOL. She's driven by the club's mission to develop girls on the field through the example of confident, strong female coaches and staff.

Maia Courtois
Director of Operations
USSF Licensed (7v7, 9v9, 11v11) · Certified Youth Soccer Referee & Assignor
Maia is a former competitive soccer player and coach with five years of youth coaching experience, three of them with SF SOL. A USF graduate with a Bachelor's in Politics, she brings that competitive playing background directly into how she runs the club day to day.
Coaching Staff
Grouped by pathway so it’s easy to find who coaches your daughter’s level: Lead It (Competitive), Own It (Recreational), then See It (Micro). Several coaches work across more than one tier — where that’s the case, each tier they coach is listed on their card.

USSF Grassroots Licensed
Kayli is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at the University of San Francisco and has coached with SF SOL since 2022. Originally from Hawai'i, she brings a steady, detail-oriented approach to practice planning and evaluating each player's strengths.

Veronica Rodriguez

Veronica played on the women's soccer team at the Academy of Art University while earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture & Design. She's brought that same community-minded approach to prior roles at Stanford University, the SF VA Medical Center, and Community Reconstruction Solutions, and has experience as a youth head soccer coach.

Margaret Powers
Rec Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Margaret played four years of Division I soccer at Iowa State, where she was elected team co-captain, before coaching at Ames High School. She's coached internationally too, leading sessions on a Football for the World mission trip to Jamaica. By day she's a financial and operational auditor, and brings that same rigor and structure to how she runs a training session.

Heba Aboufaraj
Rec, Micro Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Heba played varsity soccer as a midfielder for Washington High School before bringing that same competitive drive to coaching with SF SOL. She's also a Front Desk Receptionist and Retail Store Manager at Fitness SF, and coaches across micro-soccer, recreational, and competitive levels.

Kylie Schneider
Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Kylie's history with SF SOL goes back to 2018, when she got her start coaching summer camp — she's led rec and competitive teams ever since, including virtual training sessions through the pandemic. She's currently pursuing her Master's at San Francisco State University.

Alexis Wright
Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Alexis played soccer at UC Berkeley and has coached since high school, working with elementary-age players and as a camp counselor. She loves being close enough in age to her players to be a relatable role model on the field.

Sydney Shepard
Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Sydney played club soccer with Mustang before a four-year college career at the University of Michigan. After graduating, she played professionally in Sweden's second division and trialed with the NWSL's Chicago Red Stars. She coaches because she didn't have a soccer role model growing up — and wants to be that person for her players.

Karlie Lema
Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Karlie played soccer at UC Berkeley and has coached kids from preschool through middle school with Action Day Sports in San Jose, plus summer and high school camps. She loves watching her players grow into people who look up to their coach.

Annissa Byrd
Coach
USSF Grassroots Licensed
Annissa played competitive soccer throughout her youth and has done goalkeeper-development coaching and training. She still plays in the Golden Gate Women's Soccer League — she coaches because having a non-parent coach was hugely impactful for her growing up, and she wants to be that person for someone else.
