GLG’s Got Talent! Virtual Fundraiser

Talent Submission is CLOSED!

We can’t wait to show you all the amazing acts we have lined up!

Who’s got talent? We sure do! On December 3, 2021, Girls Leading Girls will host GLG’s Got Talent!, a virtual fundraiser to support soccer and leadership scholarships for low-income schools and girls in San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Sonoma, and the North Bay.

Join us to enjoy and vote for GLG players, after-school students, coaches, and staff’s incredible top talents (which go way beyond soccer). Plus - surprise guest appearances and chances to win prizes. Your support will enable scholarships and free programming for girls to develop crucial leadership and life skills through soccer.

Why Support Girls Leading Girls?

Girls Leading Girls is on a mission to train girls to be leaders through soccer.

We are the first-ever all-girls soccer organization with all-women coaches. We train over 500 young women ages 5-17 in leadership and life skills every year through soccer. Our programs run year-round, locally, and internationally.

Our unique approach combines all female role models as coaches with a girl-centered curriculum incorporating nutrition, body image, career exploration, goal setting, healthy relationships, and soccer training to increase girls’ confidence on and off the field.

We use the term “Girls,” which refers to gender expansive youth (cis girls, trans girls, nonbinary youth, gender non-conforming youth, gender queer youth, and any girl-identified youth).

Invest in Girls’ Sports

When you invest in girls’ sports, you empower girls to reach their potential.

There’s a confidence gap between girls and boys that starts around age 11. This grows throughout puberty and never closes as girls become women. The confidence gap is a crisis for women. Studies show that success correlates just as closely with confidence as it does with competence.

What happens when girls play sports?

  • Half of all girls who participate in some kind of sport have higher than average levels of self-esteem, less depression, and are more likely to graduate from high school and experience academic success than those who do not.

  • Girls and women who play sports have a more positive body image and experience higher states of psychological well-being than girls and women who do not play sports.

  • Girl-focused sports programs increase leadership participation on and off the field to build women leaders in all sectors of society.

So here’s how we close the gap. We use soccer skill development, leadership training, female mentors and role models, community service, and international exposure. Our girls are being taught and are practicing resilience, risk-taking, decision-making, and overcoming adversity.

Girls Leading Girls transforms the lives of girls through:

Soccer - We fortify girls’ life skills through the lessons of sports and friendly competition.

Leadership - We empower girls to be leaders within their own communities.

Advocacy - We amplify the voices of the disadvantaged and teach allyship, self-advocacy, and empathy.

Community - We are stronger together as a collective group working for the same goals regardless of our backgrounds.

Communication - We teach girls and coaches the power of their voice as vital in building their confidence on and off the field.

Safety - We provide a safe space physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially for girls to thrive and be themselves.
