We are the first ALL GIRLS soccer organization with ALL WOMEN coaches.

Started in 2014 to serve all girls, Girls Leading Girls is a San Francisco–based nonprofit organization that trains young women in leadership and life skills through soccer. Our programs run year-round, locally and internationally. We strive to build communities and develop strong female leaders.

Our Coaches/Junior Coaches and Trainers are the backbone of our organization. We work hard to train, retain, and mentor them, and we treat them like the professionals they are.

Positions available include Branch Manager, Coach, Trainer, Junior Coach, Volunteer, and Mentor.

POSITION: BAY AREA BRANCH MANAGER, FULL-TIME

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Branch Manager (BM) occupies a critical leadership position within the organization. Working closely and reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the BM provides organizational leadership and oversees the overall management of the Bay Area programs, including implementation of strategic objectives and organizational initiatives directly related to programs. The BM works collaboratively and supervises the dynamic staff to help them grow in their respective areas of work. This position motivates staff, trainers, and coaches, models effective project management skills, and represents the organization to internal and external audiences and partners. The BM will be responsible for these main areas: program staff management; all programs oversight and support; training of program staff. As part of this role, the BM may need to step in for coaches or other staff to help lead programs (summer camps, team practices/games, etc.) as needed if coaches or staff are unavailable. Additionally, this role includes administrative tasks that are required of all positions and levels.

CLUB PROGRAM ASSISTANT DESCRIPTION

The Club Program Assistant (CPA) is responsible for coordinating various elements of the GLG SOL Club Program in San Francisco throughout the year. The CPA reports to the Branch Manager (BM) and the Managing Director (MD) and works in collaboration with the Coaches, Trainers, Junior Coaches, CEO, and the Registrar/Admin Coordinator. The CPA assists the BM in their duties and responsibilities as well as works on the field to provide coaching and support to the field staff. As part of this role, the BM may need to step in for coaches or other staff to help lead programs (summer camps, team practices/games, etc.) as needed if coaches or staff are unavailable. Additionally, this role includes administrative tasks that are required of all positions and levels.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Coach provides planned, structured in-person soccer practices during the week with the support of a Coach Trainer, and possibly a Junior Coach, using the GLG curriculum and following all San Francisco Department of Public Health regulations and guidelines. Each Coach is provided both formal and on-the-job training, structured feedback by Coach Trainers, and is further supported by the Club Program Assistant and reports to the Managing Director. Coaching games will not be required during the Fall 2020 season.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The GLG Trainer provides mentorship, training, and development to Coaches and players. The Trainer creates planned, structured feedback and develops strategy for the Coaches relative to their strengths, weaknesses, and teams/players. Trainers are required to assist Coaches in leading their team soccer practices using the GLG curriculum and be the field safety monitors. In addition, they will support Coaches in leading games and in their development and growth as leaders. Each Trainer is supported by the Program Coordinators and reports to the Branch/Program Manager. Trainers will be required to attend mandatory training and to provide assessments to coaches throughout the year.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The GLG Junior Coach (JC) program is designed as an apprenticeship for high school players to learn how to become a coach through practical experience and mentorship. The Junior Coach supports the head coach with practices each week and is required to attend at least one practice or game each week. Each junior coach is supported by the team’s Coach/Trainer, Club Program Assistant, Branch Manager, and the Managing Director.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The GLG Field Assistant Coach supports the main Coach by providing field safety and monitoring, communication assistance, pick up and drop off assistance, help with planned, structured soccer practices each week with the support of possibly a Trainer and/or a Junior Coach, using the GLG curriculum. Girls Leading Girls leadership and character-building curriculum will be provided for each team practice. You will gain leadership skills, sports-based youth development tools, customer service skills, and a network of other female athletes and young professionals. Each coach is provided structured feedback by Trainers and is further supported by the Club Program Assistant, and reports to the Branch Manager.
