Fall 2020 Practice Only Season Update
Greetings GLG SOL families,
We bring good news!
It is official that we are able to have a PRACTICE ONLY fall season from 9/21-11/16. What this means is that we can have pods/groups of 14 players each practice only. We must all follow the city and state safety and health directives that are similar to the summer camps.
Here are the most important health and safety directives:
NO SCRIMMAGING within or outside of our groups.
Everyone must wear a facemask at all times (players and coaches all ages).
Players will be loaned their own soccer gear kits (soccer ball & pennie) to keep all season and bring to every practice. These will be required to return at the end of the season. There will be an option to purchase these items at the end if they’re misplaced.
Temperature and symptom checks will be done everyday by coaches, anyone showing symptoms or a temperature over 100 will be sent home.
Hand washing and sanitation will be required frequently.
Social distancing during practices and no-touch will be allowed.
No parents allowed on or near the fields, we will have a designated pick up and drop off location with requirements and guidelines sent out to parents before the first practice.
Parents are required to sign a risk acknowledgement form and updated liability waiver before their player can participate.
Ready to play? Here’s what to expect this Fall:
LOTS of communication! There are many unknowns and new challenges everyday. Our policies are being developed as we go through this pandemic with you, please bear with us and share your constructive feedback. We’ll survey families like usual at the end of the season to learn how we can do better.
Coaches and practice schedules will be confirmed by 9/4 at the latest, your teamsnap calendar will be updated with practice schedules and your coaches by 9/4 if not sooner!
Possible cancellations, changes, rescheduling due to the covid pandemic, fires and bad air quality, rain, etc could occur. We will continue to adapt and provide the best options we can as quickly and safely as possible as these challenges arise.
More individual soccer skills work at practices plus new coaches, technical trainers, and junior coaches.
2-3 practices a week for 1 to 1.5 hours each including Beach Soccer Fun Fridays!
Fall player fees cover existing and new costs: liability insurance and increases, health & safety materials, coaches time, coaches training (including health & safety, diversity & inclusion), some of the equipment, administrative costs, field permit fees.
Some new players will be joining your pod/group that will just be practicing with us this fall, they will not be on your game rosters once we are able to play games likely in spring season. Some of these players are from our free after school program and others are on our waitlist but couldn’t join due to the game roster maximums.
Once a week optional virtual leadership sessions live via 1 hour zoom calls included with your fall practices.
Next steps:
Fill out this practice preferences form by Monday, 8/24/20. These are ‘preferences’ not guarantees, we request field permits from the city based on the majority of parent requests per team and our coaches requests.
Club player fee payments will be posted on 8/27/20 and will be due by 9/10/20, you will find the payment amount in your teamsnap profile by going to your mobile app > click the three dots on the bottom right > click the Invoicing tab > and submit payment amount due. Club fees are $400 for rec and $900 for comp/travel. PLEASE submit the Financial Aid Request Form here if you need assistance for the fees. We will figure out a solution and provide some sort of financial aid for ANYONE that fills out the form.
Look for a Risk Acknowledgement form and updated Liability Waiver that will be sent via a Hellosign link by 8/27/20 so you can sign digitally and quickly to assure your player can participate when we start practices on 9/8/20.
