Founder
Brianna “Bre” Russell
The Founder of Girls Leading Goals, Brianna has extensive experience working for small businesses, nonprofits, both locally and internationally.
A Bay Area native, born and raised in Fairfield, California. Bre played soccer her whole life starting at age 5. She played competitively and in college. she earned her BS in Business at Sacramento State University, where she played collegiate soccer on the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer team. After college, Bre served two years in the US Peace Corps in Vanuatu in the South Pacific. While in the Peace Corps, she started Vanuatu’s first women’s regional soccer team, comprised of girls and women aged 15 to 22. The team played in four national tournaments, taking 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place.
Bre is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco, teaching International Development. She completed her master’s degree in International Studies at USF in 2013 before starting GLG.
Known as “Coach Bre” by many in Girls Leading Goals, Bre has been coaching soccer since 2006, and has coached various levels and ages in San Francisco. She was the Head Coach of the Women's Varsity Soccer team and program at University High School in San Francisco, as well as at Hamlin Middle School.
Bre currently holds a USSF Coaching “D” license and the NSCAA National Diploma in coaching soccer. She is also an active member of the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and still plays co-ed soccer.
Her goal is to inspire young women around the world to become confident, successful individuals on and off the pitch. You can catch her playing with her two year old son on the field or watching the NWSL at a local restaurant.

Junior Advisory Board
As part of our mission to train girls to become leaders, we provide a practicum opportunity through our Junior Advisory Board of Directors program.
Every year, 10 to 15 girls from our program are selected by their peers to serve as our Junior Advisory Board, learning the ins and outs of an organization while also helping us make important decisions about the direction of our programs.
